Didn’t pass C172

Yeah, just as I feared.  I’m back from vacation, but I missed passing the class by 1/2%!  I got a 68.5% and needed a 69% to pass. So lame and frustrating, but oh well what can you do?

So, after failing I went ahead and completed my tasks given by the Course Mentors that I had to complete before being allowed to take the Test again.  However, I didn’t get the approval before I left on vacation and didn’t really push for it just to not to try and force things.

I contacted them today and have my approval, I’m just trying to refresh on things before I re-embark on another test.  Taking off less than a week really does impact my  memory.  But at the same time it may help to refresh on things and being too tunnel visioned.

One thing I did do, since I was unsure at the time of the test was to write down questions I was unsure of on my little whiteboard. That way, I had them as reference in case I had to re-do the test.  It proved helpful in that I emailed the Course Mentors and asked what the answers were.  Since it’s a WGU administered Test, they would know and now I at least have 4 certain answers for next time.

Be weary, the wording on the test is VERY misleading AND VAGUE at the same time, so it’s really easy to not understand the question or the options you are provided.  Study the OSI model very closely as there are 19 questions related to that and also don’t neglect the Security studying as there were a lot of questions from that on there.  I unfortunately didn’t re-study the Security stuff very well before taking the test and regret it.  I know it would have been very helpful.

Anyways, back to studying and prepping for my 2nd attempt.  After a 2nd fail, it’s $65 for each re-take and more hoops to jump through to gain approval from the Course Mentors to re-test.  So, 2 free tests, then 3 paid tests before you’re done!

  1. Do you mind sharing which questions they were if you still remember? My situation is similar to you, I barely missed passing on first try. I thought the questions lined up poorly with ucertiify material. Now nervous about this try.

    1. Hi Scott, unfortunately I don’t remember any questions that I had since it was over 1 1/2 yrs ago. But I did go back and review the Assessment Report and work on the areas I wasn’t as strong in. I know for the Pre-Assessment any problems I wasn’t sure of, I studied up on. Also, I know it’s against WGU policy to capture and share any specific questions so I just end up mentioning general areas I had success in or struggles with. I re-read my post and do know the OSI and Security areas had a lot on my test. I know it probably doesn’t help much, but I’ve also switched majors so the IT stuff has gone out the window a bit. Good luck though on the re-test!
